San Antonio Spurs

Even with all of the problems the San Antonio Spurs have had this season, they still have managed to stay in the playoff race.  With Tony Parker out to injury, they have needed Manu Ginobli to step up big to help him out.  Tim Duncan is as solid as ever and has had an epic career, but he is getting older and is going to need a replacement at some point.

The Spurs have just not been the threat that they were a few years back when they were winning World championship after World championship.  They have lost their “edge” in a sense.  For instance, the Spurs have always been a thorn in the side of the Utah JazzThe Jazz haven’t swept a series against the Spurs in almost two decades.  This season they did it, beating San Antonio twice on their home court.  Little things like this just show that the spurs are an older team, and they are performing well under the expectations of basketball experts.

While there is a good chance that the Spurs will make the playoffs, they will likely go out in the first round.  Without stellar play from Parker, Ginobli, Duncan and Richard Jefferson, the San Antonio Spurs will not be a threat to any of the other talented teams in the Western Conference.

The Spurs currently have a record of 36 wins and 25 losses and hold the seventh spot in the Western Conference.  As long as they can keep winning here and there, they look to at least get one of the eight playoff berths.
