New Orleans Hornets
After a bad knee injury to Chris Paul a little earlier in the season, it looked as if the New Orleans Hornets‘ playoff hopes would die with the injury. While that may still turn out to be true, there is still some hope left for this ailing team.
Rookie point guard Darren Collison has stepped up and made a name for himself on the Hornets. He was just barely named rookie of the month in the Western Conference, and has shown that he is a very talented player and can run a team’s offense. Chris Paul has been a mentor to him, but we will see how well he takes being benched again after Chris Paul returns from his injury.
Other than that, the team has salvaged wins with the help of David West, Marcus Thornton, Emeka Okafor, and Peja Stojakovic.
The team is currently at 32 wins and 33 losses and is coming off of a four game losing streak. They are currently sitting at the bottom of the Southwest division and are one game behind the Houston Rockets, and almost ten behind the Portland Trailblazers. Their playoff hopes are all but gone, not impossible, but bleak to say the least.
The defense has struggled to make stops on teams, and without Chris Paul they have lost almost twice as many times as they have won. Don’t plan on the Hornets to make the playoffs, but then again you never can tell what’s going to happen in the Western Conference.
