Miami Heat at Chicago Bulls

The end of 2010 and the beginning of 2011 has been nothing but positive for the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls. Both teams started the 2010-2011 seasons rather slowly, but really stepped up in early December. Ever since, they both found themselves at the top of the Eastern Conference rankings.

The Miami Heat has only lost one game since the beginning of December. Miami’s hot streak helped them overtake the number one spot in the East. The Boston Celtics was the best team in the east for the first few months of the season, but they have struggled lately and dropped to second. Being ranked third in the east, Chicago remains in the conversation for the playoffs race.

Saturday January 15th will be the first of three meetings between Chicago and Miami this season. The Bulls will have the home advantage for this weekend evening game. However considering all factors, Miami’s current firepower is hard to match and overcome.

Heat’s trio of Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh has been on fire, as seen by the chart topping statistics. James and Wade each average about 25 points a game, and they are ranked within the league’s top six scorer’s table. In a recent win over Portland, Lebron finished the game with 44 points. Similarly, Wade scored 45 points in the last game of December against the Rockets.

Chicago’s Derrick Rose is without a doubt one of the best players in the league. Although he is one of the top 10 scorers, Rose doesn’t have the type of solid backup from his teammates that Lebron and Wade have. Sometimes, he carries too much of a burden in hopes of leading Chicago to a victory. If Rose has an off day, then the Bulls’ chances of winning any game are slim.
