New York Knicks visit Washington Wizards in NBA action Friday
On Friday the Washington Wizards will host the New York Knicks.
The Verizon Center is expected to be packed with a D.C. crowd ready to cheer on their home team all evening long starting at 7:00 o’clock. Right now, it seems that the home venue is the only advantage the Wizards have over the Knicks and the Wizards are the favorites odds.
The meeting between Washington and New York is a battle between one of the worst and best teams in the Eastern Conference. The Wizards have only won 6 of their first 20 games, while the Knicks have been victorious in 11 of their first 20 games. For the last few weeks, New York had one of the hottest streaks in the NBA, winning 10 of 11 games since mid November.
Newcomers Amar’e Stoudemire and Raymond Felton deserve most of the credit for the recent success which the New York Knicks haven’t seen in years. There has been excellent chemistry between the Knicks starting center and point guard, as well as everyone else in between. In fact, the Knicks are doing so well that Stoudemire and Felton are candidates for the upcoming All-Star game.
It is also worth mentioning that Amar’e is one of the top scorers in the league, average about 25 points a game. Coach Mike D’Antoni loves the way his team has started the season and hopes to continue the winning pattern and finally take New York to the playoffs.
The only positive things the Wizards have going on is a solid performance by the NBA’s first overall pick John Wall, who leads the team in scoring with 17 points per game. Gilbert Arenas, once a top scorer in the league, is simply not the same type of player anymore, as indicated by the types of mediocre stats he puts up each game.
