NBA: Free Agency Update
The most talked about free agent acquisition of the offseason in the NBA in 2010 was the arrival of superstar Lebron James to the Miami Heat. His new, multiyear $110 million contract puts him up there with Kobe Bryant as one of the highest paid players in the league and he also a favorite in NBA future odds.
The photos of James and his teammates Dwyane Wade and Jermaine O’Neal in Miami uniforms have already been released, and the Heat are already expected to win in all this year.
But what’s happening with all the other NBA Free Agents this summer?
James’ former teammate Shaquille O’Neal is looking to finish out his career by getting another ring with the Boston Celtics. Shaq signed a two year contract worth over $3 million. This dismantles the stellar Cleveland team from last year that had a lot of potential to easily go all the way.
Cleveland has signed rookie prospect Samardo Samuels to attempt to fill some giant shoes. Samuels is a 6 foot eight forward from Jamaica.
Tracy McGrady was recently looking around for a new team. He was reportedly set to meet with the Chicago Bulls, who recently picked up Carlos Boozer for a five year deal worth 80 million. McGrady signed with the Pistons for a one year deal reportedly worth 1.2 million dollars.
The Lakers sign veteran power forward Theo Ratliff help Kobe and company stay on top.
And the NBA free agency game of musical chairs come full circle as Ben Wallace ends up going back to Detroit for a two-year $1.9 million dollar contract.
