NBA – Review/Recap 2010 NBA Draft
Almost immediately following the NBA finals is the NBA draft. Here is a quick evaluation of the top five picks in the 2010 NBA draft.
1. John Wall PG (Washington Wizards) – The number one player and star, selected is out of Kentucky. He’s 6’4 196 lb, and considered a franchise player. He will start right away for the Washington Wizards. He has tremendous quickness, overall speed, and will definitely be a force to deal with.
2. Evan Turner SG (Philadelphia 76ers) – Turner selected number two from Ohio State is 6’7 214 lb, and a player that can do just about anything you ask him to on the basketball court. You probably won’t see him with a bunch of slam dunking highlights, but he is a great asset in the back-court, and likely a fixture there for a good while.
3. Derrick Favors PF (New Jersey Nets) – The number three selection is from Georgia Tech. The 6’10 245 lb Favor’s is the youngest of the top five players in 2010 NBA draft. He should easy get up, and down the court without any problems. Most of his scoring will most likely come from put backs and getting dunks. There is room for his offensive game to improve.
4. Wesley Johnson SF (Minnesota Timberwolves) – At number four, is 6’7 206 lb. from Syracuse with a 7’0 wingspan. Because of the Timberwolves only winning only 15 games last season, Wesley will see plenty of action on the court in 2010. There is a really good chance that he will become one of the top defenders in the NBA.
5. DeMarcus Cousins PF-C (Sacramento Kings) – Another Kentucky product at number five, is 6’11 292 lb DeMarcus Cousins. There is a high probability that he will turn into an elite player due to his ability to hit shots, and great rebounding ability. There have been some questions about his work ethic, but that will have to play out over the course of the next several seasons to make a decision on that.
