Los Angeles Lakers vs. Boston Celtics – Game 3 Preview
In Boston, the Lakers reclaim home court advantage and took a 2-1 series lead by winning the first game.
In the first three quarters, Derek Fisher scored just 5 points, although, in the fourth quarter, he had 11 points on 5-for-7 shooting. After yet another miss by Ray Allen, Derek Fisher broke down the court. The Los Angeles Lakers guard was unstoppable, by not even three hard-charging Celtics, from finishing off a Game 3 victory
“Derek Fisher was the difference in the game, He’s just a gutty, gritty player and he gutted the game out for them. I thought Kobe was struggling a little bit, and Fisher — he basically took the game over. … I don’t know what he had in the fourth quarter … but most of them were down the stretch”, said Celtics coach Doc Rivers.
All 13 shots, Ray Allen took from the field were missed and it was just the second time in his playoff career in which he did not make a field goal.
In the first quarter, the Lakers started a 15-1 run, to take the lead, which they never relinquished despite the Celtics fighting to within one in the fourth quarter. This postseason when allowing less than 100 points, Los Angeles improved to 8-0.
With 25 points, Kevin Garnett led the Celtics. This is scoring playoff game since he scored 26 in the Celtics Game 6 clincher against the Lakers in the 2008 NBA Finals.
Phil Jackson got a 223 career postseason wins from this emphatic win. This also tied h with former NHL coach Scotty Bowman for the most wins in major North American pro sports history.
