NBA Basketball – Los Angeles Lakers at Memphis Grizzlies Preview

The Los Angeles Lakers visit the Memphis Grizzlies at the FedEx Forum on Tuesday, Feb. 23 2010 for those of you who would like to bet on basketball.

The Lakers should be well rested, and Kobe Bryant should be back from his left ankle sprain.

The last time the teams met was Feb. 1, when the Grizzlies won 95-93 that night at home and Bryant passed Jerry West to become the Lakers all-time scoring leader, scoring 44 points.

Since then the two teams have gone in opposite directions. The Lakers have continued their winning ways, going 6-1. The last four were without Bryant, who sprained his ankle against Charlotte on Feb. 3.

The Grizzlies have hit a rough spot. Since that win over the Lakers they’ve lost their last four going into the All Star break, and their first game back against the Suns. Today they stand at 26-26. So they are anxious to get back on the winning track.

The first meeting between the two was November 6th, back when Allen Iverson was still a member of the Grizzlies. The Lakers won 114-98 that night at the Staples Center, and Bryant became the youngest player in NBA history to score 24,000 points. He finished that game with 41. So it’s easy to see why he may have a soft spot for the Grizzlies.

The Lakers, 42-13 SU, play Boston this Thursday and afterwards have a four-day rest before taking on Memphis on Tuesday for the third and final time this year, unless the Grizzlies make the playoffs.
